So women’s rights in the US were different by state. The western states granted voting earlier than national rights, with Colorado and Idaho getting votes first. It was amazing to me how much resistance there was from all across society, even from women. It was thought that women didn’t have the brain power to make voting decisions and that women voting would lead to the breakdown of the family. Women were supposed to influence society through their husbands and follow their husband’s lead. We have come a long way, but we have a long way to go. What do you think?
