So in preparation for my Slovenian food and wine party I tried out Slovenian recipes from two sites today: http://www.kulinarika.net/ENGLISH/food/recipe and http://www.slovenia.si/si/visit/cuisine/recipes. The pork marinated in wine and spices was terrific, the mushrooms in sour cream delicious, the heart attack inducing sauerkraut was worth the calories (secret ingredient – zesaka – which is lard and minced bacon). I totally screwed up the buckwheat zaganci. It is supposed to be some sort of boiled bread. I think the translation of the recipe might have been missing a step or two. I ended up with mush.
I might try it again, but not today. Traditional food takes alot of cooking time.
