Today is Epiphany, the feast of the three kings, the Twelfth Day of Christmas. When I was a child we would burn our Christmas tree in a bonfire and have a party to round out the Christmas season. I think we did that because my mother grew up with Slovenian traditions. In much of eastern Europe, including Slovenia, Epiphany is a big celebration. So tonight in Slovenia they are eating bread, caroling and burning incense. They are probably also blessing their houses with chalk and holy water. I am just putting away Christmas decorations and thinking about celebrations for the end of the season.
