In November I hosted a Slovenian meal. As part of the meal my daughter Katie (who is a professional make up artist – Belle’s Wish ) made up the guests to reflect Slavic fairy tales. Here Katie’s interpretation of the fairy tale with Amelia made up to illustrate the Lost Child.
In this fairy tale the youngest daughter of a widow saves a prince who has been taken to a mineral land. First she is generous when her sisters were not. She shares her fire and her food. This seems to be a recurring theme in these fairy tales. Generosity is the biggest virtue. Over and over again the hero, or in this case the heroine is rewarded for being generous. In this tale the heroine follows the prince back to the mineral land and breaks the spell on the prince by breaking a branch off a silver tree and off a gold tree.
