Honoring my ancestors

I was walking from work to the train this week and thinking about my ancestors.  They faced so many trials from poverty to the attempted genocide of the irish, and yet they persivered. More than persivered, they succeeded in giving their children and grand children a better life.  The successes that I have had are built on their work, sacrifice and love.

This knowledge has left me with a tremendous gratitude and with the motivation to strive to be a person who would make them proud. I’ve also drawn strength from their trials. If they could do what they did, I can face my challenges. I often pray to them and find honoring the immigrant story through my book immensely satisfying.
