I’m having an Irish dinner to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and my Irish heritage. I’ll be serving shepherd’s pie and corned beef and cabbage. We will also be trying Irish beer and whiskey. (Picture from Wikimedia, picture by cefeirlandias).
I’m not much of a beer drinker, but I do like Guinness. I’ll even admit to drinking Guinness with breakfast. It was an Irish breakfast with eggs over easy black sausages and soda bread. Not on the diet, but oh so yummy, and in my defense it was in Vegas. I know Guinness is pretty stereotypical, so any recommendations for other beer for a Guinness drinker?
We will also be trying out Irish whiskeys. Charlie and Ashley are jack and coke drinkers. I thought I didn’t like whiskey until my cousin Kris brought me a bottle of Jamison. I like the smooth slightly smokey flavor, goes down really easy. Any other suggestions? What is your favorite whiskey?
My mom says my grandfather would drink boilermakers, a shot if whiskey dropped into a beer. What do you think? Are they better each on their own or mixed?
I really am not much of a drinker, two glasses of wine and I get the perma grin, laugh alot then fall asleep. Im going to have to drink really small glasses and pace myself. I’ll report back about our favorites.
